Santa Fe, NM

We headed off to Santa Fe today, one of the oldest continually occupied towns of the USA. Santa Fe was colonised in 1610 by the Spanish and still today keeps its heritage by maintaining the pueblo style buildings. We wandered around St Francis' Cathedral and visited the Museum of American Indian Arts. Most everything else was closed due to it being Columbus Day long weekend.

We also got our daily dose of stupid today ...
(1) In Walmart Ken went to the pharmacy to purchase saline - plain ol' saline - and was told it was available on prescription only! This in a country where you can buy anti-inflammatories in any quantity you want (these cause increased risk of heart attack and stomach ulcers), but you cannot buy salt water ... go figure!
(2) While in Starbucks inside Barnes & Noble, waiting for Ken and the kids, I witnessed an obese man order a cup of ice from the attendant. When asked if he wanted water in the cup too, he said with a straight and serious face, 'no I am allergic to water'! The attendant and I were gob smacked and wordlessly watched him walk out with his cup of ice.

Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is currently being held

Looking from the Cathedral down the street - love the adobe buildings

Loved this 'joyful' St Francis sculpture!
