Glen Canyon Dam AZ

We headed from Page to Bryce Canyon this morning, but 5 minutes into our drive decided to stop at Glen Canyon Dam. We were so glad we did. We took a tour of the dam and the hydroelectricity plant associated with it. The kids did their junior ranger booklet and received their badge. Along the way, another ranger - on holiday from Maine - saw the kids and started chatting to us about our holiday and their badges on their vests. He is in the process of writing a paper about getting children more involved in the Ranger programs at National Parks Service Sites, and wanted to put a picture of the kids in their vests in the article and write about our holiday and our approach to the Parks Service. Ranger Adam, who attended to the children at Glen Canyon Dam, was also a wonderful ranger - involved and enthusiastic - and asked the kids to sign the Register Book.

We are now in Bryce Canyon for two nights. Tomorrow (18/10/12) is Sophia's 9th birthday ... and she is super excited!
