Osteology Museum, Oklahoma City

Another great little museum visited today. This place was the realisation of a man's hobby turned passion. http://www.museumofosteology.org/

The kids had a wonderful time doing a scavenger hunt through the place, looking for the smallest skeleton, the largest skeleton, exoskeletons, endoskeletons and everything in between!

This place was on the TV show 'Dirty Jobs with Mike Row', featuring the preparation of the whale skeleton hanging in the museum

beetles cleaning bones - the boys were fascinated by it

Dog skulls!  (The poor misshapen bulldog is in the middle row, on the right)

Various bovine malformations.

Bones as jewellery!

On our way to our camp in Red Rock Canyon State Park for the night, we had to swing by the stores to get me a pair of cowboy boots.

Just west of Oklahoma City, the landscape flattens out and there are oil drilling fields making an appearance

The souvenir boots - I won't be able to wear them in Boonah (too fake 'country girl' thing) but they will give me much pleasure!
