Visited three sites today, and entered our 30th state on our driving tour of the USA.
We began our day at the Thomas P Stafford Air and Space Museum, Weatherford OK. This was a great little museum - in fact, more than a little museum - it was lovingly curated and had many interesting artefacts and plenty of information. Mr Stafford, now 82, rings everyday and still takes an active interest in the museum. I left with the feeling he led a full and rewarding life, and is now taking well earned time to play a round of golf or two.

At the entrance - it was a chilly 11 degrees C this am ... but it warmed up |

Thorough, interesting displays. No wonder this museum is affiliated with the Smithsonian |
Next stop was the Route 66 Museum, Clinton OK. This was a fun stop along the way, and as TripAdvisor states, the best of the Rte 66 Museums.
Finally we visited the Devil's Rope Barbed Wire Museum, McLean TX. This was a quirky place and is certainly devoted to the curation of all things 'barbed wire'. There was a side room with memorabilia pertaining to Rte 66, but after the earlier museum, it paled.

How could you drive past a place like this and not wonder what was inside?! |
We are now in Amarillo TX. The drive here was along a very long, very straight road, with not much but flat expanse either side, broken up every now and then by wind farms. Tonight we get chauffeur driven in a limo to Big Texan Steakhouse
http://www.bigtexan.com/, home of the 72oz free steak! You get one hour to eat it, including all the fixin's!

It was very windy today. The RV was buffeted badly on the road, and when we stopped to fill up with petrol it was being knocked by the wind. So, I am guessing, this is a good place for a wind farm. |

Flat miles and miles of miles .............. |

They like it all big in Texas - only disappointed I missed snapping a shot of a billboard advertising the "Catholic Supercentre " ... would loved to have dropped in and found a Texas style Jesus belt buckle :) |

We have now been warned about how to behave at our RV park tonight. Duly noted. |
