Los Alamos, NM

So today was a 'nothing' sort of day. We stopped by a hot springs this morning, but the naked man in the spring put us off. We stopped by Bandelier National Park, but a storm had gone through and made the car park inaccessible. We stopped at Los Alamos and visited a museum there and wandered through the town. That was a pleasant way to spend and hour or two. Surprisingly the loveliest part of the day was the incredible scenery we drove through. Every time I see rock formations like the ones in the images below I cannot help but think about the sheer energy over great lengths of time that have gone into shaping and forming the landscape. Tonight we are staying in a beautiful little park in Chama NM.

Benedict's drawing of me "Mum Super Hero"
Now, whilst that is very nice, it did start off as a drawing of a rock :)

Balloon Fiesta, leaving Albuquerque, NM

Rock formations - loved the white rock jutting out toward the road

Such vivid reds and oranges

The National Park we didn't get to see ... at least we will get to Mesa Verde

Fabulous rock formation

Striations (though not clear in photo) were fantastic and imposing to drive toward

Cottonwood trees in glorious yellows
